Well, Paul and I have both had the worst flu ever for more then a week- so I guess now that I have have wasted all the time I can waste on Facebook, done my taxes, checked all my e-mails, cleaned out the old e-mails from my in box and watched enough episodes of MASH to make me cry... I guess I could update the blog.
What has happened in the last 3 months.... actually quite allot.
First of all, I applied for a new job! Don't get too excited- I did not get it. The job that I applied for is at my current place of employ. I am not sure I really wanted it because I REALLY love my job- but my current job was a contract job and I would be "let go" every summer, and picked up again in the spring and, not to sound like a jerk or anything - they were not paying me NEARLY enough. So I didn't get the job.... that's OK, maybe I didn't want it anyway --- but wait! Whats this? Oh? You think I have done such a good job over the last few years and are afraid I will quit now? You want to give me a raise and make my job a salaried position? OK! So, in the end I got the best of both worlds. It couldn't have worked out better!
Also- a couple of weeks ago my grandfather died. I know it might sound terrible but I can't be too sad about it. He was fairly healthy until a week before his death. He lived in a condo with my grandfather (they only moved off the farm a few years ago!). He was 92 and after the life he lived I am surprised he made it as long as he did. So anyway, he was sick for about a week - that gave everyone time to get to Medicine Hat and visit and say goodbye. I don't think he was in excessive pain. I think he knew he was going to die and I think he was ready. He was reading his Discover and National Geographic magazines right up until the end in the hospital. I am just thankful I visited last spring with my digital recorder and let my grandfather tell me the stories he wanted to tell from his life. Now I have them and I wont forget.
Also (on a happier note) Kelli got tickets for us to see Neil Young in Lethbridge in April. I cant wait to go down and hang out with friends and Paul is going to use the opportunity to get some fishing in in Calgary - I will drop him off on the way!
Spring finally feels like it is here in Edmonton - the snow is melting, the streets are slushy, the days are longer and I can't wait to get outside...
Hope you all are well. Lots of love!
